About

Expert, unhurried menopause and HRT care

Dr Rebecca Jacques is an experienced GP and a Registered British Menopause Society (BMS) Menopause Specialist, with over 18 years of experience and a career dedicated to women's health.

Rebecca believes that no two women experience the menopause in the same way. Her consultations are unhurried and personal: time to talk through your medical history, your symptoms, and what matters most to you, so that together you can make informed, confident decisions about your care.

Alongside her menopause work, Rebecca has a particular focus on the long-term health of women through and beyond the menopause, including cardiovascular health, cholesterol, bone health, and diabetes. She believes early attention to these areas is one of the most valuable things a woman can do for her future wellbeing.

Frequently asked questions

Menopause & HRT questions answered

What is a British Menopause Society (BMS) Menopause Specialist?

A British Menopause Society (BMS) Menopause Specialist is a doctor who has completed advanced, accredited training in menopause care and holds the BMS Advanced Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Menopause Care. Dr Rebecca Jacques is a Registered BMS Menopause Specialist, which means she has demonstrated a high level of expertise in perimenopause, menopause and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), including complex and specialist cases.

Do I need a GP referral to see Dr Rebecca Jacques for menopause or HRT?

No referral is needed. You can book a private menopause or women's health consultation with Dr Rebecca Jacques directly at AtWell in Balsall Common, near Solihull and Coventry. To arrange an appointment, call 01676 545111.

Can Dr Rebecca Jacques prescribe HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy)?

Yes. As an experienced GP and BMS Menopause Specialist, Dr Rebecca Jacques can prescribe, review and optimise Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), including body-identical HRT, and can help with HRT that isn't working well, unscheduled bleeding on HRT, progesterone intolerance and testosterone prescribing where appropriate.

What happens in a private menopause consultation?

Your consultation is unhurried and personal. Dr Jacques takes time to understand your symptoms, medical history and what matters most to you, discusses the benefits and risks of HRT and non-hormonal options, arranges any necessary tests, and agrees a personalised treatment plan. You'll also receive advice on protecting your long-term bone, heart and metabolic health.

Can I get testosterone for menopause symptoms?

Testosterone can be prescribed for some women during the menopause, most commonly to help with persistent low libido that hasn't improved with standard HRT. Dr Rebecca Jacques assesses whether testosterone is appropriate for you, prescribes it where suitable, and monitors your response over time.

Can I have HRT if I've had breast cancer or a family history of it?

Menopause care after cancer is one of Dr Jacques' areas of special interest, and she is currently undertaking a Breast Fellowship. She provides individualised advice for women with a personal or family history of breast cancer, including both hormonal and non-hormonal approaches, so you can make an informed decision that's right for you.

What is perimenopause and when should I seek help?

Perimenopause is the transition leading up to the menopause, when hormone levels fluctuate and symptoms such as irregular periods, hot flushes, poor sleep, anxiety, brain fog and low mood can begin — often in your early-to-mid 40s. If symptoms are affecting your quality of life, it's worth seeking help; you don't need to wait until your periods have stopped.

Do you offer non-hormonal alternatives to HRT?

Yes. HRT isn't right for everyone, and Dr Jacques discusses evidence-based non-hormonal options for managing menopause symptoms, including lifestyle approaches and licensed non-hormonal medication, tailored to your health and preferences.

How much does a private menopause consultation cost at AtWell?

An initial specialist menopause consultation with Dr Rebecca Jacques is £230 in person (45 minutes) or £220 online, with follow-up appointments from £150. Testosterone consultations for women already on HRT start from £145 for an initial appointment. To book, call 01676 545111 or visit the clinic at 164 Station Road, Balsall Common, CV7 7FD.
