Quick answer

Consultant endocrinology at AtWell offers direct access to a specialist for thyroid, diabetes, adrenal, pituitary, calcium and sex-hormone conditions. Initial consultations are available in clinic or remotely, with investigations arranged on-site and a written consultant letter after each appointment.

About this service

Direct access to a consultant endocrinologist for complex hormone and metabolic conditions, without waiting for a referral. In-clinic or remote consultations with your GP kept fully informed.

Who is this for?

Adults with a known or suspected hormone disorder who want specialist input quickly: abnormal thyroid results, difficult-to-control diabetes, adrenal or pituitary concerns, unexplained weight or energy changes, or conditions your GP has suggested need a specialist.

What to expect

Your consultant reviews any existing results before you arrive. The initial appointment covers a full history, examination where needed, and a plan for targeted investigations. You receive a written consultant letter, and results are explained at a follow-up which can be held remotely.

Your journey, step by step

1

Book in clinic or remote

Choose a face-to-face appointment at AtWell or a video consultation from home.

2

Share existing results

Send any previous blood results or letters in advance so the consultant can review them beforehand.

3

Consultation

Detailed specialist assessment with clear explanation of the likely causes and next steps.

4

Investigations

Targeted blood tests and imaging arranged on-site or nearby, only where they will change your care.

5

Plan and letter

A written consultant letter for you and, with your consent, your NHS GP.

Frequently asked questions

No. You can book directly. If you have previous results or a GP letter, sharing them in advance helps the consultant prepare, but it is not required.

Consultant appointments are usually covered by private medical insurance with a GP referral and pre-authorisation from your insurer. Check with your insurer before booking and bring your authorisation number.

For many endocrine conditions, yes. The consultation is based largely on your history and blood results, both of which work well remotely. If an examination is needed, the consultant will say so and arrange it.

At AtWell. Results are sent directly to the consultant and explained to you at your follow-up.
