Thyroid Problems

Comprehensive thyroid testing and management for under- and overactive thyroid.

Thyroid problems are common but often overlooked. An underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) causes fatigue, weight gain, and low mood, while an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) causes weight loss, anxiety, and a racing heart. A simple blood test can diagnose the problem, and treatment is usually straightforward and effective.

Common symptoms

  • Underactive: fatigue, weight gain, feeling cold, constipation, dry skin
  • Overactive: weight loss, anxiety, tremor, heat intolerance, rapid heartbeat
  • Hair thinning or hair loss
  • Mood changes — depression, irritability, or anxiety
  • Swelling in the neck (goitre)
  • Irregular periods or fertility difficulties

When to see a doctor

If you are experiencing unexplained fatigue, weight changes, mood changes, or any of the symptoms above, a thyroid blood test can provide answers quickly. This is especially worth considering if you have a family history of thyroid disease.

How we help at AtWell

We offer a full thyroid panel (TSH, Free T4, Free T3, and thyroid antibodies) with results typically within 24–48 hours. Your GP will explain the results clearly and, if treatment is needed, prescribe and monitor thyroid medication with regular follow-ups to ensure optimal levels.
